Marie Selby Botanical Gardens - Historic Spanish Point Campus
At the Historic Spanish Point Campus in Selby Gardens, there are many things to explore and plenty of gorgeous scenery to take in. There are 4 different types of tours; self-guided walking tour, guided walking tour, golf cart tour, and boat tours.
In the Guided Tour, as well as the Golf Cart Tour you can expect to learn about south Florida's rich history, local, flora/fauna, and archeological finds within the region. Both of these tours last for 90 minutes. Important to note that the Golf Cart Tour does include some walking. Water fountains are closed. Guests are encouraged to bring water.
Check-in at the Welcome Gazebo for the Self Guided Tour. This walk stretches for 1.25 miles so make sure to wear appropriate clothing and bring water. The Boat Tours are available for ages 6+. The boat tours are not wheelchair accessible and do not have bathrooms on the boat. There is a minimum of 2 people with a maximum of 6 people. This tour lasts for 45 minutes and is guided by an educator.
The Historic Campus is also home to the Butterfly House. Some of the many finds inside are the cloudless sulfur, giant swallowtail, Gulf fritillary, monarch, orange-barred sulfur, and the zebra longwing (the Florida state butterfly).
Some historical sites found here are White Cottage, built in 1884, and Mary's Chapel which features 7 stained glass windows and a church bell to ring in your next adventure.
