Indian Mound Park, also known as Paulsen Point, was once inhabited by ancient indigenous people from 100BC to somewhere around 1350AD. Researchers throughout the years have discovered many artifacts that further confirm a bustling fishing village once thrived along this Florida coastline. These ancient tribes used natural resources to craft clothes, ornaments, shoes, and vessels.
Today, this park is known for its mound of sand that lays just off the shoreline of Lemon Bay and The Gulf of Mexico, said to hold broken treasures from its ancient roots.
If visiting Indian Mound, bring the entire family for organized games and sports on the open grassy areas, and cook a day's worth of food on the grills! Enjoy lounging time in the said at the many different shoreline access points.
Fishing from the shore and boating ramps are available for guests and visitors. As well as kayaking and canoe launch access to view the park from the sea. And as the sun is setting, take a stroll along the clear, paved walking trails that lead to the most popular portion of the park as you watch the sun paint a rainbow of colors in the sky as it sets.
