The first art organization located in Sarasota, FL is the Sarasota Art Association. The center lives by always being adaptable and will celebrate its 100th year open in 2026. They host exhibits, a sculpture garden, and various classes for all age groups.
Sam & Sally Shapiro Sculpture Garden is a magnificent place that features tons of work from local sculptors throughout history. The garden was added in 1996 and it can be seen at the entrance of the Art Center.
For adults, from October through May they offer classes in watercolors, oil, and acrylic painting, paper & collage arts, mixed media, photography, and more.
Kid's classes are offered for ages 6-17 on Saturdays. Together you will work on age-appropriate art projects with an instructor. Students must be registered by the Thursday before the first class. They also host ArtVentures which holds multitudes of classes that are 3 hours in length. Those workshops include supplies, snacks, drinks, and an Art Center Apron. Additionally, they have grant-funded programs for schools and homeschoolers due to them being a STEAM organization. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics.)
